Brief Introduction of Company Situation
No need for a very long section. Just a few paragraphs to set the stage for your case analysis.

Mission Statement (Copy or Create an Operational one)
You do not have to do as extensive a document as in the first exercise. This version is only meant to serve as a guide to focus the case analysis.

External Analysis Section
Rationale of 10 Factors Selected (5 opportunities and 5 threats)
External Factor Evaluation Matrix (EFEM)
This part is as you did in the exercise earlier in the course.

Competitive Analysis
Porter’s Five Forces Model (for each factor state high, moderate or low)
Impact on his Generic Strategy (Lowest Cost Producer, Product Differentiator, Broad or Narrow Focus)
This part is as you did in the exercise earlier in the course.

Competitor Factor Evaluation Matrix (CFEM)
Choose the case company and two or three competitors and set up an EXCEL spreadsheet as set up in the David text.

Internal Analysis Section

This part is as you did in the exercise earlier in the course.

Financial Analysis of the Firm
In this section you should analyze the company’s earnings,capital structure (debt and equity), cash position, dividend policy and overall fiscal capacity to execute its strategy.

Matching Section
SWOT Analysis
You might want to create an EXCEL spreadsheet for this. You use the factors from both the Internal Analysis and External Analysis sections as the rim components. For each of the four quadrants you should come up with at least two strategies that combine the rim factors in the rows and columns. You will select from these plausible strategies only two to later develop in the Strategy Recommendation Section later.

This part is as you did in the exercise earlier in the course.

SPACE Matrix
The data for this matrix should come from the earlier sections of your case analysis.

Portfolio Analysis (BCG )
This is an internal tool that uses either product or segment data. You might need to reference other sources to obtain this information but stay in case time.

Strategy Recommendation Section

Select l or 2 Strategies that you have identified from your SWOT analysis, Justify, and Develop an Implementation Plan as discussed in Chapters 7 and 8 of the David text.
This section should take several pages as you flesh out the recommendations.

Include Pro Forma Profit & Loss statement and a Balance Sheet (see Chapter 8) that reflects the strategy impact.

Epilogue Section

Bring the Case to Current Time ( Summer 2012) via Research. Footnote your sources for this section. What has happened to the company since the case was written? Use multiple and varied source material and not just the web page of the company.
